Modern pizza evolved from similar flat board dishes in Naples, Italy in 18th or early century .

The word pizza was first documented in A.D 997 in Gaeta and successively in different parts of central and southern Italy

Pizza was mainly in Italy and by emigrant from there

Specifically, baker Raffaele Esposito from Naples is often given credit for making the first such pizza.

Their origin is from Latin pinger to pound, stamp the Lombardic word bizzo or Pizzo meaning (mouthful) related to English words bit and bite which was bought to Italy in the middle of the 6th century AD by the invading lombards
